Kitty [Jul. 19th, 2004|12:36 am]
[mood |coldcold]
[music |Accidentally In Love -- Counting Crows]

We are officially the weakest human beings in history! :)

This adorable little kitten was meowing at Brandy's door late Friday night, so we let him come in and play a little. We named him Fineous Taco (well, Brandy named him) and had way too much fun playing with him. He is absolutely precious and way too young to be outside, but we put him out for the night, since it was after 4am already and we weren't in any condition to make him inside-able at the time. We were gone all day Saturday, but then as we were leaving this morning (Sunday) we happened to see the kitty again (Jason hadn't seen him yet--his bottom lip started quivering!) and then our neighbor walked out of her house. I asked if the kitty was hers, and she said yes, but they had to put him out because he was too rough for their 2 yr old daughter. Now, I think it is stupid for anyone to think a teeny kitten is the right pet for such a small child. Of COURSE the kitten is going to scratch and bite--that is what they do for fun. Geh. Anyway, she said she really didn't know what to do with him and we were welcome to him. Big mistake.

So after our trip to Macon, we waited til she was home and talked to her some more. It turned out she was serious, and so we now have this wonderful wonderful little playful kitten!

We've been fighting like crazy to rid him of fleas (I can't believe how many fleas were on such a small kitty!) and ear mites and everything else, and due to the amazing amount of fleas, we have him in the bathroom currently, but we are on our way to a 3rd healthy kitten. I don't even think it is going to be that horrible to break him into the family of cats. Before making any final decisions, we brought him up here and first put him in a room with Laz. Laz just followed him around for a bit sniffing. Taco hissed some, which was adorable, but that is about it. Then, we replaced Laz with Lain and it got a little more interesting, but not much. Lain hissed 2 times, but she didn't try to kill him immediately, and only twice isn't bad at all for her. We are hoping there is enough of an age difference that she will try to mother him--he looks to be about 8 weeks old, from what I hear.

Anyway, being a mommy is exhausting--I'm going to bed. But YAY! we have cats :)

Poor Marcel :( [Jun. 25th, 2004|11:30 pm]
[mood |frustratedfrustrated]
[music |Policy of Truth -- DM]

Because his flight from philly wasn't bad enough, obviously...

Our day was so perfectly on time today that of course it couldn't last. The last leg of the trip, which should have gotten us to the airport by 1pm at the latest (for a 2:25 flight), went all to hell.

There was a wreck on I-20 ahead of us, so the 25-30 minute trip from lunch to airport lasted 1.5 hrs instead. Geh! Talk about frustration! We get to the airport at 2:06, and Marcel finds out it is too late. He was going to be delayed overnight, but he explained he had to pick up a connecting flight in Philly, and the clerk squeezed him into a flight that left at 4:45. We figured this was a good thing, considering it would cut out his 4 hour layover in Philly, and it meant we could spend some more time together.

Well, I just got a text message from his parents that the changeover wasn't long enough and he missed his flight to Amsterdam! I feel so bad for him :( What is worse is I don't know how to get in contact with him. If I don't hear anything back from him by tomorrow, I think I'll call his parents and see where he is, when he can fly back. I just hope this doesn't end up costing him even more than the flight here cost (the later flight to Philly didn't cost more, at least). I'll update you when I know something.

Geh. I just feel so bad. We all had a great time while he was here, but both flights were so bad I don't know if he'll be able to bring himself to get on another flight :( At the very least, he'll be flying direct next time, he'll NOT use US Airways again, and to drop him off, I think we'll get to the airport 3 or 4 hrs in advance, no matter how early we have to leave M'ville to do it!

More about the trip, my night, and all other pertinent news at a later date. I now need to get to bed and to sleep so I can get up and meet with my mom in the morning.

[music |Milkshake - Kelis]

After 3 delays just to get from Philly to Atlanta (the second one being overnight!! :(), Marcel is with us in Atlanta!

We've had a tiring but fun day wandering around, and now we are heading to dinner, then eventually home.

I'm sure we'll both post more soon, but YAY!!!! :)

Now THIS is a good idea: [Jun. 8th, 2004|02:31 pm]

My only problem is that we can't get one til we can get two, or we may kill each other over the first one!

Faith! What a dirty mono-syllable -- Jill, why didn't you mention that one when you were teaching me the short words that musn't be used in polite company?
